A Welcome from the Principal
Tena koutou katoa,
Welcome to an exciting new year for Burwood School.
I am honoured to be able to lead the team of highly skilled and dedicated staff we have at Burwood School. We aim to continue to provide education that is academically rich, celebrates diversity and difference, and prepares our children to be confident and capable contributors to the communities in which they live.
Our ‘Ka mahi tahi – Ka whai ake’ vision, (Working together – Aiming high) reflects what is important to us, and the daily life of our school is founded on these principles.
If you live within the Burwood School zone, I encourage you to visit – I would appreciate the opportunity to share with you the ways in which we might meet your child’s learning needs.
- Kind regards,
- Susan Jennison
- Principal – Tumuaki
Welcome to Burwood School
Burwood
School is located in North East Christchurch in a picturesque setting
alongside the Avon River. This setting is complemented by the
school’s mature grounds and our emphasis on a pleasant and restful
landscaped environment.
The school caters for children from Years 1 to 6 (five to eleven year olds). By always endeavouring to provide the best of educational opportunities, it has given exemplary service to the children and families of the Burwood Community for more than 135 years.
Because you are looking at this website, you may well be interested in Burwood School and what it has to offer both Domestic Students and International Students.
The website probably will not tell you everything you would like to know about the school but, hopefully, it will give you sufficient insights to ‘whet your appetite’ and to seek more information if you wish.
To this end, you are more than welcome to contact the school. We can furnish further information by email, or the postal service and, most importantly, if you wish to make an appointment to see us, somebody will certainly be available to answer your questions and to show you around.
